How to Make Perfect English Tea

For those who are wondering how to make perfect English tea from loose leaf tea, these guidelines will help.

  1. Begin with fresh cold water. Bring it to a gentle boil in a kettle.
  2. Remove the kettle from the heat.
  3. Warm the tea pot by swishing some of the hot water around in it. Pour out the hot water.
  4. Place tea leaves in the tea pot. The usual ratio is one teaspoon of tea leaves per cup, then one more teaspoonful “for the pot”.
  5. Steep the tea until it is the strength you desire, usually between three and five minutes.
  6. Use a tea strainer (or any small strainer) to strain the tea. You can either strain it directly into the cups or into another tea pot. If you use a second tea pot, remember to warm it with hot water before pouring the tea into it.

That is all there is to it! Make some and enjoy!
