Tea Parties

There are a lot of different kinds of tea parties. From a classic afternoon tea party to a teddy bears’ picnic, the various types of tea parties are limited only by your imagination.

The Tea Party

I had a little tea party
This afternoon at three.
‘Twas very small-
Three guest in all-
Just I, myself and me.

Myself ate all the sandwiches,
While I drank up the tea;
‘Twas also I who ate the pie
And passed the cake to me.

Tea is the common ingredient!

At every tea party, however, there is always one common ingredient, and that is tea. As long as there is tea, and at least three people to share it, you have a tea party. There is one notable exception to this, and that is when a young child holds a tea party with imaginary tea.

One of the great things about hosting tea parties is that they can be held in so many different places. A sunny back yard is perfect, but so is a warm room in winter. Other good places include patios, balconies, living rooms, rented spaces, art galleries, studios, conservatories and outdoor gardens. A simple picnic can be transformed into a tea party, as well. Any beautiful, romantic or comfortable homey spot will do nicely.

Tea parties are also perfect for bringing diverse people together. They are usually low stress activities and by their very nature they don’t generally include alcohol. Two hours is all they take and people leave feeling calm and happy.

If you want to throw a tea party in the afternoon, in the traditional way, you can learn exactly how to plan it here. Everything is covered, from the invitations to planning a classic menu.
